BENGZON, J.:

n May, 1956, the plaintiffs sued the widow and the legitimate children of Mario Guariña, Sr., demanding partition of the properties left by the latter, who had died intestate in 1935. They alleged they were acknowledged illegitimate children and grandchildren of the said Mario Guariña, Sr.
The defendants, among other defenses, denied the asserted relationship.
