The death sentence imposed by the then Circuit Criminal Court, 7th Judicial District, Pasig, Metro Manila, on the 14 accused herein, all convicted prisoners at the national penitentiary, is before us for mandatory review.

The information filed against them charged them with Murder as follows:

"That on or about the 18th day of October, 1971, in the New Bilibid Prison, Muntinlupa, Rizal, and within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, the aforenamed accused, while then serving sentences at the said institution, acting upon a common understanding, conspiring together, confederating and helping...
