This original action for certiorari seeks to nullify the decision rendered by public respondent National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) on July 14, 1993 1 which reversed the decision of the labor arbiter and ordered the dismissal of herein petitioners complaint for illegal dismissal.

It appears that sometime in March, 1988, private respondent Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific Company of Manila, Inc. (hereafter, AG & P) terminated the services of 178 employees, including herein petitioners, under a redundancy program.
