A donation is an act of liberality whereby a person disposes gratuitously of a thing or right in favor of another, who accepts it. 1 On the part of the donor, it is an exercise of one's generosity.

However, on several occasions, instead of being accorded recognition and appreciation for this act of beneficence, the donor ends up as a victim of greed and ingratitude. This was the fate that befell Pedro Calapine (herein original plaintiff) constraining him to cause the revocation of the donation that he made to his niece in 1984.
