PANGANIBAN, J.:

As a general rule, questions of fact may not be raised in a petition for review. However, when the findings of the appellate court differ from those of the trial court, this Court may examine the evidence presented during the trial and resolve the factual matters raised. In the present case, the Court of Appeals clearly erred in appreciating the facts and should thus be reversed in the interest of substantial justice.
