In the year 1913, the individuals named as defendants in this action formed a civil partnership, called "La Protectora," for the purpose of engaging in the business of transporting passenger and freight at Laoag, Ilocos Norte. In order to provide the enterprise with means of transportation, Marcelo Barba, acting a manager, came to Manila and upon June 23, 1913, negotiated the purchase of two automobile trucks from the plaintiff, E.
