We reiterate the doctrine that, in the assessment of the credibility of witnesses and their testimonies, the findings of trial courts deserve utmost respect.

The Case

Eugenio Briones y Marquez appeals the May 12, 1998 Judgment[1] rendered by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Lucena City, Branch 53. In Criminal Case No. 95-555, the RTC convicted him of frustrated robbery with homicide and frustrated homicide; and in Criminal Case No. 95-557, of illegal possession of firearm.
