The Case

This is an appeal from the Decision[1] dated 15 October 1999 of the Regional Trial Court of Zamboanga City, Branch 16 ("trial court"), in Criminal Case No. 15557. The trial court found appellant Hairatul Jubail alias Shaira Jubail ("Hairatul") guilty of violating Section 15, Article III, in relation to Section 21(b), Article IV, of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1972.[2] The trial court acquitted Hairatul's co-accused, Ruaina Nuruddin alias Ruai Nuruddin ("Ruaina"), on the ground of reasonable doubt.
