The present case is an appeal from the Decision1 dated November 29, 2006 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. CR.-H.C. No. 01085, entitled People of the Philippines v. Alejandro Viojela y Asartin, which affirmed with modification the Decision2 dated September 1, 2003 of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Cavite, Branch 18 in Criminal Case No. TG-3256-99. The trial court found appellant Alejandro Viojela y Asartin guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of statutory rape as defined and penalized under Article 335 of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to Republic Act No....
