JOHNSON, J.:

This defendant was accused of the offense of "exporting from the Philippine Islands Philippine silver coins," in a complaint filed in the Court of First Instance of the city of Manila. The complaint was in the words following:

"The undersigned accuses Ling Su Fan of the criminal offense of attempting to export Philippine silver coins from the Philippine Islands, contrary to law, committed as follows:
