On February 1, 1964, plaintiff-appellee filed in the City Court of Manila, Branch III, a complaint for the recovery of the sum of P2,691.18 for loss and damage caused to four shipments of goods consigned to it which arrived from abroad on four different occasions in the year 1962 and which were handled by defendants-appellants as arrastre operators for the port of Manila.
