In the afternoon of October 2, 1958, at the municipality of Lambunao, Iloilo, Roque Lastrado suffered several stab wounds on different parts of the body that caused his death shortly thereafter. [1]

As a result, on January 22, 1959, the Provincial Fiscal of Iloilo filed an information charging Francisco Buenaventura, his son Iñigo Buenaventura, and the tenants of Francisco, Pedro Herrera and Filomeno Muya, of Murder, as follows:
