The question presented by the proceedings at bar [1] is whether or not the provisions of the Labor Code, [2] as amended, [3] have anathematized "fixed period employment" or employment for a term.

The root of the controversy at bar is an employment contract in virtue of which Doroteo R. Alegre was engaged as athletic director by Brent School, Inc. at a yearly compensation of P20,000.00.
