In the morning of 1 February 1990, Adolfo Estampa, Cirilo Dispolo, Alfredo Llano, Sr. and Alfredo Llano, Jr. were shot to death in front of a sari-sari store in sitio Katigahan, Mat-i, Surigao City. Each sustained multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of their bodies. 1 The assailant, identified by witnesses as Romeo Boniao, a CAFGU 2 member stationed in Brazil, Malimono, Surigao del Norte, approached the victims from behind and fired his M-14 armalite service rifle at the four (4) who were then seated on a bench, facing the store and partaking of their snacks.
