D E C I S I O N

DAVIDE, JR., J:

This case was originally an appeal brought to the Court of Appeals pursuant to Section 9(3) of the Judiciary Reorganization Act of 1980 (B.P. Blg. 129), as the trial court, upon convicting the accused-appellants of murder, sentenced them to seventeen years and one day to twenty years of reclusion temporal. 1 In its decision 2 of 14 June 1915, the Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction but imposed the penalty of reclusion perpetua. In light of the third paragraph of Section 13 of Rule 124 of the Rules of Court, however, the Court of Appeals refrained from entering judgment and certified the case to us.
