PUNO, J:

Reinstatement is the remedy that most effectively restores the right of an employee to his employment before he was unjustly deprived of his job. In giving an illegally dismissed employee the right to reinstatement, the law 1 recognizes the fact that continued employment gives to a worker, especially to a lowly or menial laborer, an assurance of continuity in his source of income which a grant of separation pay could not provide.
